Naturopathic Nutrition for Neurodiversity

'Neurodivergent' can be used to describe individuals whose brains function in a way that isn't “typical”. It's a nonmedical term without a strict definition, but it commonly refers to people with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) or attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and sometimes refers to those with other conditions such as Tourette syndrome, dyslexia, learning disabilities, PANS/PANDAS, certain mental health conditions, or something else.

Functional nutrition plays a crucial role in supporting the unique needs of neurodivergent individuals by addressing potential nutritional imbalances that affect the brain (neurotransmitters) and overall health. Challenges such as sleep, behaviour, speech, and sensory sensitivities related to food, which in some cases can develop into an eating disorder called avoidant restrictive food intake disorder (ARFID), where an individual avoids the vast majority of foods, can be improved.

I make sure to look into all imbalances through functional medical tests, consultation, and physical examinations, and address all of these step by step while giving you practical advice (how to make a picky eater try new foods), for example, recipes and lifestyle suggestions. I also help in educating the whole family about how nutrition can support neurotransmitters and keep the mind and body happy, liaising with schools and other therapists (if needed) so that the whole team working with the family is on board.

Naturopathic Nutrition Services

My practice employs the Functional Medicine approach. I am passionate about helping clients find the root cause of their disease, no matter the health challenge.

I seek to uncover the underlying causes of health issues, considering factors such as family history, genetics, lifestyle, and environmental influences. Our work together goes beyond simply managing symptoms—it's about understanding the root causes. I also emphasize the importance of improving nutrition, which plays a crucial role not only in enhancing overall health but also in how our bodies respond to chronic and degenerative conditions.
